Nigerian Police PCRC inaugurates new excos in Maiduguri

In an effort to enhance security surveillance and bridging the gap between communities and law enforcement agencies, the Nigerian Police Force has over time formulated different measures in trying to bring law closer to the people, which will in turn enhance security operations at grass-root communities.

In line with these objectives, the police force is making strides to strengthen Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, a program initiated by the force to include civilians who will help with vital information to the police to boast their operations and be more efficient.

In Maiduguri, Borno State, the committee has on Wednesday inaugurated its youth executive members, which was presided over by CP Abdu Umar, the state commissioner of police.

The inauguration took place at a conference hall in the Borno State Police Command Headquarters.

CP Umar has during the inauguration, called on the newly inaugurated members to be vigilant in their various localities and provide the police with necessary information that will help them in discharging their duties.

According to him, with youth and women in PCRC, the police will be able to tackle any form of criminality in the state because they can penetrate every nook and cranny within their localities.

While congratulating them, the CP assured them of the force support whenever the need arises and pledged to maintain a good mutual relationship between them and the force in the state and the country at large.

He also urged them to make a positive impact in the fight against any act of criminality in the state.

Engr. Talba Sheriff, the state chairman of PCRC in his remark called on the newly inaugurated executives to be dedicated and committed because a huge task was entrusted to them.

He added that the state chapter of the committee has contributed and recorded a huge success in countering the security bedeviling the state.

Engr. Sheriff commended the force for their timely response and support whenever the need arises, assuring that the committee will maintain the relationship between them and the force.

Muhammad Bukar Umara, the newly inaugurated state coordinator of the committee thanked the principal officers of the committee for finding them worthy of this task and assured that he and his members will not let the committee down.

He further assured that his team would be dedicated and committed when discharging the task entrusted to them.

Other members inaugurated include Abubakar Sadiq Muazu, deputy state coordinator, Musa Gwary, publicity secretary and Aishatu Kabu Damboa, the state treasurer.

Barr. Bello Zike is state legal adviser and Halima Abba Ibrahim, a state welfare secretary.

Others are Saleh Bukar Galtimari as state provost, Fadila Abdulrahman as state auditor, Umar Bakari as executive member I, Haruna Jafiya as executive member II and a police officer as secretary.
