The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Borno Sector Command, has flagged off its ember months campaigns against night travels and to sensitize road users on safety measures to forestall crashes and road traffic-related incidents during the ember months.
The Sector Commander, Borno, Ibrahim Kiri Sanusi, stated this on Thursday at Tashan Kano motor park, Maiduguri, while flagging off the 2021 Ember months campaigns.
The FRSC Borno mber month campaign is in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for North-East Zonal office.
Metro Times reports that the theme is: “Maintain Safe Speed, avoid night travels and enjoy quality road experience”.
He added that the essence of standing the campaign early is to educate the motoring public to make 2021 ember months unique and crash free by adhering strictly to road traffic regulations.Kiri said, “Globally, about 1.35 million people die annually from road traffic crashes while another 50 million people suffer from various degrees of injuries.
The negative effects of the carnages appear even more terrifying here in Nigeria. it is among the leading cause of death in Nigeria. it has put some facilities under poverty line because bread winners have been lost due to this scourge.
Noting, road accident are avoidable if only we drive with care and obey road traffic rules. Drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on their trips.
“Night journeys should be avoided, drivers must ensure adequate rest before embarking on a journey, make sure the vehicle tyres have not expired, over inflated/under inflated and avoiding drinking while driving, avoid over speeding and always use seatbelt while driving.” he added.
