An aspirant for Dikwa state constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming 2023 general elections in Borno state, Bukar Mustapha has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct fair, free and credible elections that will produce the choice of the electorate.
Hon. Mustapha said this on Tuesday in Maiduguri shortly after a meeting with party faithful in his residence, where he briefed them of some of the people’s oriented programme he would embark on if elected to represent the constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The Borno Assembly hopeful said his immediate priority should he be elected, would be how best his people devastated by the Boko Haram insurgency can be rehabilitated and empowered with dignified source of livelihood.
He lamented the wanton destruction carried out by the insurgents in his constituency which has impoverished the people to the extent of begging in the streets for survival.
He promised to ensure that more youths from his constituency are empowered and those that dropped out of school due to the insurgency assisted to return back to school .
Mustapha said:” All we want from the INEC in the state is free, fair and credible Polls that will reflect the choice of the electorate.
” Time has come for a change in Dikwa and with the poor performance of the previous representatives, the yearning of the poor masses for a change will be realised through credible poll.
” As a grassroot politician who is close to the downtrodden, I will embark on projects that will have direct benefits to the traumatised people of my constituency. ”
He however commended Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for the giant developmental projects he has so far executed in the state, but added that more of such projects needed to be executed at the rural level to minimise rural- urban migration.
